How We Build
Building a custom home is one of the biggest investments you'll ever make. Our process is designed to remove uncertainty, foster collaboration, and make the experience as rewarding as the home itself.
Let's Talk About Your Project
Every Great Home Starts With a Great Plan
The success of a custom home isn't determined the day framing begins.
It's determined months earlier through thoughtful planning, clear communication, and attention to detail.
That's why we've created a process that helps eliminate surprises, keeps everyone aligned, and allows you to enjoy the journey instead of feeling overwhelmed by it.
PHASE 1
Discovery
Every great project begins with understanding your vision.
Before we discuss schedules, selections, or construction timelines, we take the time to understand what matters most to you.
We'll meet to learn about your goals, your lifestyle, your property, and the vision you have for your future home. Whether you already have plans or are just beginning the process, this conversation helps us determine how we can best serve your project.
Just as importantly, it's an opportunity for you to get to know us. Building a custom home is a partnership, and we believe choosing the right builder starts with making sure we're the right fit for one another.

PHASE 2
The Slaughter Standard Review
Find the questions before they become problems.
The success of every project is determined long before construction begins.
That's why every home goes through The Slaughter Standard Review—our proprietary preconstruction planning process designed to eliminate surprises before the first shovel goes in the ground.
Working alongside your architect, designers, engineers, and trusted trade partners, we carefully review every aspect of your project to identify potential challenges, coordinate critical details, and ensure everyone is aligned before construction begins.
By investing more time in planning upfront, we're able to create more accurate budgets, better schedules, stronger coordination, and a smoother building experience from day one.
During the Review We...
Review construction documents
Coordinate structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
Evaluate constructability
Identify long-lead materials
Finalize pricing and selections
Prepare permits and scheduling
PHASE 3
Bringing Your Home to Life
This is where your vision begins taking shape.
With careful planning complete, construction begins with confidence.
Our role extends far beyond coordinating trades. We manage schedules, monitor quality, communicate progress, and solve problems before they become your problems.
Throughout construction, you'll receive regular updates, scheduled walkthroughs, and clear communication so you always know what's happening without feeling like you need to manage the project yourself.
Our goal is simple:
To give you the confidence to enjoy watching your home come to life.
Throughout Construction You Can Expect
Consistent project updates
Scheduled walkthroughs
Coordination of all trades
Ongoing communication
Guidance when decisions arise
PHASE 4
Protecting Every Detail
Quality isn't inspected at the end—it's protected throughout the build.
Exceptional homes aren't created by chance.
Throughout construction, we continuously inspect our work, review every stage before moving to the next, and create punch lists before issues become visible to you.
As your project nears completion, we'll walk through your home together, explain its systems, answer your questions, and make sure every detail meets the standard we've promised from day one.
If we wouldn't accept it in our own home, we won't ask you to accept it in yours.
Our Commitment Includes
Ongoing quality inspections
Trade-by-trade walkthroughs
Detailed punch lists
Final homeowner orientation
One-year workmanship warranty
Two-year mechanical warranty
PHASE 5
Beyond Move-In
Our relationship doesn't end when construction does.
Handing you the keys isn't the finish line—it's the beginning of life in your new home.
Even after move-in, we're here to answer questions, address warranty items, and continue supporting you as a homeowner. Whether it's a maintenance question months later or something covered under warranty, you can expect the same responsiveness and care you experienced throughout the build.
Because The Slaughter Standard isn't measured on move-in day.
It's measured years later, when you're still confident you chose the right builder.
